Objective

The Mechanical Testing Laboratory of Wood and Derivatives - LEMMAD has a room with temperature and humidity controlled, for the air conditioning and testing of wood bodies of the test piece and its derivatives. These tests are carried out through a universal testing machine driven by an electromechanical system controlled by computer, with the ability to force application of up to 30 tons. The standard universal machine instrumentation includes load cells, LVDT and switchable devices for tensile, compression, bending to three and four points, shearing, cracking, internal bond, bonding strength, nails start and bolts, hardness janka, among others, which may be conducted as national and international standards according to the intended purpose. The LEMMAD aims to provide a suitable environment for conducting research on the properties of strength and elasticity of wood (native and exotic) and wood products (panels plywood, LVL, MDP, OSB, MDF, glued laminated beams, etc.) produced in experimental or commercial scale, targeting the quality control of these products and the identification of its potential for use in construction, in the furniture industry, packaging industry, etc.

Activities

The LEMMAD support in the fields of teaching and research students of the course of Forest Engineering (undergraduate) and the Program of Graduate Studies in Forest Resources (Masters and PhD) of ESALQ / USP, as well as students from other institutions through partnerships in the development of projects and internships. Additionally, in harmony with these other activities, it supports the development of analyzes, studies and research projects demanded by product industries wood-based, non-associated and associated IPEF - Institute of Forestry Research and Studies.
